ADELAIDE GERMAN WEEK
Running in 2023 from 20 November to 26 November, the second-ever Adelaide German Week will showcase a wide variety of events encompassing several areas of interest.
Starting with a spectacular and much anticipated concert reception, the Adelaide German Week will include a series of events showcasing a rich spectrum of collaborations between Germany and South Australia. We are delighted to present you highlights across education, business and economy, science and innovation, arts, culture and most of all inspiration, fun and networking. We will bring you interesting events such as the Business, Science & Innovation Day with the latest updates on joint research outcomes or the Kochabend (Flammkuchen Masterclass) in the showrooms of Haefele. The crowd pleasing Kinoabend will additionally bring the best of German cinema to South Australia. Our Language Day will excite younger learners of German and the Familientag am Strand will provide an opportunity to connect with German-speaking families. Of course, our program would not be complete without dipping into our rich German-SA heritage, and this year you can join a piano concert hosted by the Barossa German Language Association showcasing the beauty and history of the Barossa, along with a taste of its food and wine!

From idea to reality
In October 2021, a Committee was formed by the Runder Tisch der deutschen Sprache (SA) under the leadership of Reinhard Struve, a well-known German community leader, and the recently appointed Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany in SA, Matthew Williams. The committee brought together people from diverse science, education and business backgrounds, all sharing a passion for German-speaking cultures and the multicultural community of SA.
Within months, the vision of transferring the successful German Week concept from Brisbane to Adelaide with a range of uniquely South Australian events had begun to take shape.
The inaugural Adelaide German Week in 2022 proudly cooperated with the established Brisbane German Week, and will now become a fixture on the South Australian events calendar.
